Some weddings use music as background. Others use it to shape the entire experience.
Emily and Paul’s wedding at Mount Vernon Canyon Club was the second kind.
A wedding built around great music and a great party
From the beginning, it was clear they love music and wanted to share that part of themselves with their guests throughout the entire night. Their reception took place across multiple spaces at Mount Vernon Canyon Club in Golden, Colorado, using the lower-level Canyon Room and attached deck for cocktail hour and dancing, then the Main Dining Room upstairs for dinner.
Cocktail hour with personality from the start
As guests arrived for cocktail hour, the goal was to welcome them with music that felt personal, upbeat, and familiar. Emily and Paul wanted a mix of folk, country, classic rock, and yacht rock. A soundtrack that reflected both what they love and a bit of what their parents love too.
Think Caamp, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, and Luke Combs.
It was the kind of cocktail hour that immediately felt alive. Guests were bobbing their heads, singing along, and settling into the night in a way that already hinted at how much fun the reception would be later.
A venue that let the night unfold naturally
One of the things that worked especially well about this wedding was how Mount Vernon Canyon Club allowed the evening to move through different moods without losing momentum. Guests started downstairs in the Canyon Room and deck for cocktails, moved upstairs to the Main Dining Room for dinner, then returned downstairs for dancing. Because the club offers multiple distinct reception spaces with attached decks and mountain views, it gave the night room to evolve while still feeling connected from beginning to end.
That kind of layout matters. When a couple wants a guest experience that feels dynamic and high-energy, the right transitions can make the whole wedding feel more immersive.
Dinner upstairs, then straight into the party
Following cocktail hour, we invited guests upstairs for dinner and prepared the couple and wedding party for the grand entrance.
We always view that entrance as an important moment because it tells us a lot about the energy of the room and what kind of crowd we are working with. This crowd made it clear right away that they were ready to party.
Dinner music leaned into chill EDM covers of pop songs, think Kygo meets I Wanna Dance with Somebody. It was a modern but easygoing soundtrack that kept the room feeling stylish and upbeat without pulling too much focus away from conversation.
After dinner, toasts, and cake cutting, it was time to head back downstairs.
First dances under the stars
Before the party fully kicked off inside, Emily and Paul wanted to start with their first dance and parent dances on the deck under the stars. It made for a beautiful transition and gave those early evening moments a more intimate, atmospheric feel before everyone moved inside for the high-energy portion of the night.
It also created some incredible visual moments for the photo and video team to capture.
A packed Canyon Room and a dance floor that never let up
Once the dancing moved inside, the Canyon Room filled up fast.
Before long, the room was packed from the DJ booth halfway to the bar. Emily and Paul wanted to get into the party pretty quickly, so instead of spending too much time easing in, we gave them about twenty minutes of more traditional wedding classics before opening things up into throwbacks, high-energy EDM remixes, and mashups of their favorite songs.
That is where the night really took off.
The dance floor had range. We were able to move from crowd-friendly classics into bigger, bolder moments without losing people, which is exactly what you want with a group like this. There were house remixes, mashups, pop-punk energy, and the occasional nasty drop thrown in as a surprise to keep the room on its toes.
Some of the biggest hits of the night included a mashup of Beauty and A Beat with Pursuit of Happiness, Justin Kada’s We Found Love/Sandstorm Mashup, Pepas, Chainsmokers – Roses, and No Broke Boys (Avello Remix).
The energy stayed high all the way through the final song.
A high-energy Mount Vernon Canyon Club wedding done right
What made this wedding work so well was not just that the crowd was fun, it was that the music was paced intentionally enough to let the night build without burning people out too early.
Emily and Paul wanted a high-energy celebration, and they got one. But it still felt structured, natural, and guest-friendly the whole way through. From the personality-filled cocktail hour to the first dances on the deck to a Canyon Room dance floor packed deep into the night, every part of the reception felt connected.
That is the difference between simply playing good songs and actually shaping a wedding experience.
For couples planning a wedding at Mount Vernon Canyon Club and looking for a wedding DJ who can create a celebration that feels personal, polished, and genuinely high-energy, this is exactly the kind of night we love bringing to life.
A fantastic team behind the scenes
This wedding also had an incredible creative team supporting it.
Piper Allison Videography and Taylor Nicole Photography did a beautiful job capturing both the atmosphere and the energy of the day, from the more intimate moments on the deck to the full dance floor downstairs. And working alongside a strong planner like Paige from The Perfect Touch event Planning always makes a difference. We received great feedback not only from the couple and guests, but also from the planner, content team, and venue, which says a lot about how smoothly the whole evening came together.
